Doorstep traders told: knock it off

DOORSTEP traders will get the brush-off with the launch of "no cold calling" zones.

The zones in Coillesdene, the Durhams, Moira Park, Restalrig Avenue and Seaview Crescent follow a police survey which revealed that 30 per cent of people in the area had been targeted by doorstep sellers.

Among those taking part is doorstep crime victim Ann O'Brien, right.

The initiative aims to stop householders feeling pressured to buy goods on the doorstep even from bona fide traders, and cut the number of people who fall prey to tricksters.
