Doors Open Day provides a look at secrets of buildings

THE doors to some of West Lothian’s most fascinating buildings are to be thrown open to the public this weekend.

Linlithgow Civic Trust has organised an expanded programme of events, with several venues taking part in Open Doors Day for the first time.

Members of the public will be offered a sneak peek inside West Lothian Civic Centre in Livingston, Blackburn House, Bryerton House in Linlithgow and Kingscavil Church.

A crime and punishment walk through Linlithgow,
starting at the old prison cells in the Burgh Halls and encapsulating a number of historic crime scenes, will be led by local author Alex Adamson.

Bathgate Partnership Centre, voted building of the year by the Edinburgh Architectural Association this year, is one of the more modern buildings which will form part of the weekend.

In total, 19 buildings are taking part by offering free events.
