Donald Trump set to auction off Turnberry contents

The US Presidential candidate plans to turn the hotel, which underwent a multi-million pound makeover in 2009, into the “finest and most luxurious hotel” in Europe.

The billionaire bought the 149-room luxury golf resort in 2014 from Dubai-based Leisurecorp for an undisclosed figure.

And he is now planning to flog its collection of plasma televisions, beds, mattresses and chandeliers at auction.

Lots are expected to also include sofa suites, a collection of photographs and prints, framed mirrors, and free-standing sink units.

The auction, conducted by Wilsons Auctions, will take place at the Trump Turnberry Resort on October 1, with lot viewings on the previous evening.

Bob Chambers, commercial manager at Wilsons Auctions, said: “We are looking at about 100 bedrooms and the sale will include all the fixtures and fittings.

“This will include 32-inch plasma televisions and all the bedroom furniture, including cabinets, lanterns and lamps. It’s everything you’d expect to see in a five star bedroom.

“Also included will be pictures and prints from the bedrooms and hall areas.

“All this stuff was renewed about five years ago under the previous owner, so it’s all good quality as one would expect.

“We expect it will attract a lot of interest and that people will come to buy a bit of the Turnberry Hotel. We are expecting a lot of interest from overseas as well.

“There will be a large quantity of these assets.”

The 18-month refurbishment programme is under way and will be carried out in phases before a re-launch of the resort takes place next June.
