Doctors 'are feeling strain'

THE goodwill of doctors working under increasingly challenging circumstances is running out, it has been warned.

Senior doctors in Edinburgh said health chiefs and politicians could not rely on their "going the extra mile" forever as they battle falling budgets.

In his New Year message, the chairman of the British Medical Association in the city also said doctors should be at the forefront of any workforce planning.

He added: "The NHS should not bear the responsibility for the failings of the banking system."
