Disgraced ex-cop gets taxi licence

A DISGRACED police officer who has been suspended on full pay for 42 months has been allowed to become an Edinburgh taxi driver, it was reported today.

PC Greig Anderson, 37, was convicted 13 months ago of neglect of his duty as a police officer, but was still granted a licence to drive a black cab by Edinburgh City Council.

In April last year, he admitted being in wilful neglect and violation of his duty. Items including CCTV tapes, police reports and notebooks and drugs in evidence bags, were found at his home and that of a former partner.

Police reportedly refused to reveal whether they had objected to Mr Anderson, who was suspended four years ago, being granted the licence.

Ian Murray, MP for Edinburgh South, was today reported as saying: “It would appear there are more questions about how this was handled.”
