Dig deep when cancer charity calls

People in Edinburgh are being asked to dig deep when they receive a visit from Macmillan Cancer Support’s door-to-door fundraising team next month.

The team will be visiting homes in Edinburgh throughout March to gain support from new donors. The money raised will allow them to continue delivering practical, medical and financial support to people affected by cancer.

Macmillan provides support to everyone with cancer, as well as their carers and friends.

Door-to-door fundraising in 2011 allowed Macmillan to speak to more than 70,000 people about the vital cancer services they provide, including the Macmillan Support Line.

It also resulted in over 45,000 new donors, who will give more than £10 million to the charity over the next five years, which could help build three large palliative care wards or pay for 200 Macmillan nurses for one year.
