A number of individuals, suspected to be dissident Republicans, were arrested at various locations on Wednesday under section 41 of the Terrorism Act (2000).

Under the legislation, police are allowed to hold suspects without a warrant for at least 48 hours, but can apply to keep them in custody beyond that period of time.
