Designer jets off to Italian fashion event

A CITY designer is to take part in the prestigious Pitti Immagine Uomo fashion event in Italy this week.

Staff from Joey D, on Broughton Street, will style members of the contemporary ceilidh band A Whisky Kiss, who are performing at the event.

They will be joined by fellow Edinburgh company 21st Century Kilts at the event in Florence.

Eight leading Scottish companies – Mackintosh, William Lockie, Barrie knitwear, Braemar, Jamiesons, Lochcarron, Peter Scott and Harris Tweed – will fly the flag for Scotland at the event.

David Breckenridge, chairman of the Scottish Textiles Industry Association, said: "Italian customers are very discerning and recognise and value craftsmanship and beautiful design."
