Death of 16-year-old treated as suspicious

A MAJOR investigation was launched on Lewis yesterday after police confirmed they were treating the discovery of a teenager’s body as “suspicious”.

Liam Aitchinson, 16, had been reported missing last week. He was last seen alive on 22 November, in the Anderson Road area of Stornoway. His body was found on Tuesday afternoon in a derelict building in Steinish.

Chief Inspector Gordon Macleod, of Northern Constabulary, said: “I would appeal to anyone who has any information to get in touch with us at Stornoway police station.”
