Dealer jailed for drug haul

POLICE seized drugs with a possible street value of £14,000 after smashing their way into a flat in an Edinburgh high-rise.

A tip-off took them to the door of Owen Goldthorpe, 29, advocate depute Richard Goddard, prosecuting, told the High Court in Edinburgh yesterday.

Goldthorpe was jailed for five years 219 days after admitting being concerned in the supply of heroin, cocaine and possession of cannabis resin and diazepam last November 23 at Dunsyre House South in Edinburgh’s Calder Crescent.

Two previous trafficking convictions meant Goldthorpe risked a minimum sentence of seven years but his guilty plea earned him a discount.
