Deal signed for gateway port at Leith

AN agreement has been signed by Forth Ports, Scottish Enterprise and the council to develop an ambitious new masterplan to create a 21st-century gateway port at Leith.

The deal will see the three partners work together to capitalise on the economic potential of the port by conducting technical and feasibility studies to form the basis of future plans.

First Minister Alex Salmond said: “This agreement signals the dawn of a new era for Leith, which will ensure that it plays a central role in supporting economic growth in the Lothians and in the wider Scottish economy.”
