Dawe defends right to strike

CITY leader Jenny Dawe has defended the right of council staff to go on strike.

Schools, nurseries and council offices are all expected to close down on Wednesday as part of the UK-wide public sector strike.

Asked about the strike, Councillor Dawe said: “Union members have a right to strike and I respect that. We try to come to a negotiated agreement so that vulnerable people do not get put into difficulties and discussions are happening about that.”
