The former Formula One driver spoke of his grief as his family mourned the loss of 35-year-old Lynsay Jackson, who is believed to have died of a heart attack on Saturday.

Coulthard, 41, said: “It’s obviously come as a huge shock and we’re still trying to come to terms with it all. I’d like to take this chance to thank everybody over the last two days.

“It means a huge amount to my family and I.”

The F1 pundit appeared on BBC One’s Saturday Kitchen Live despite having received news of his sister’s death shortly before the show.

Mrs Jackson’s body was found in her home in Crossmichael, Kirkcudbrightshire, who she shared with husband Will and their eight-month-old daughter Emily.

The death comes just 18 months after Coulthard’s half-sister Elaine Rowan passed away in similar circumstances.
