Danielle is sitting pretty with beauty therapy prize

Danielle Black, who is studying a SVQ 3 Beauty Therapy course at Jewel & Esk College, beat more than 160 fellow students from across the UK to achieve first place in the Sterex UK Student of the Year Awards 2012.

In the finals, the 20-year-old, who is originally from East Linton, performed live treatments on patients under the watchful eye of judges who were looking for client care, enthusiasm and skill.

Judges then quizzed each finalist on their technique and beauty knowledge.

As well as claiming the title, Danielle took home £1000 cash and equipment worth the same.

Danielle said: “I’m delighted to have won. It’s a great achievement for me and is something I wouldn’t have been able to do without help from my lecturers.”

Beauty lecturer Kirsty Brown said: “Danielle is a lovely student and has worked incredibly hard to be the very best at what she does.”
