Daft motorist caught with cocaine haul

A DRIVER asked police to help him after his car broke down – while he was carrying a £100,000 consignment of cocaine.

A court heard that obliging officers decided Mark Mickowski’s clapped-out Rover 800 could not be repaired, and offered to give him a lift.

Mickowski, 35, removed his bags from the Rover to the police car and, at the Travelodge at Edinburgh’s Dreghorn Link, he dumped his belongings at the reception desk.

Advocate depute Richard Goddard, prosecuting, told the High Court in Edinburgh: “Meanwhile, the actings of the accused . . . had given rise to a suspicion in the minds of both police officers dealing with them that they may be in possession of controlled drugs.”

Mickowski, of Willowpark Crescent, Aberdeen, admitted being concerned in the supply of cocaine on January 9.

He faces sentence next month.
