Cull pine marten to save capercaillie

AN ADVISER to Scottish Natural Heritage has called for pine martens to be culled because they raid nests and feed on the eggs of the capercaillie, Scotland's most endangered and iconic species, whose numbers have now dropped to 2,000.

Professor Torstein Storaas says the Highlands are not big enough for both species.
