Crossing plan on right road

WORK is to be carried out to install two new pedestrian crossings to improve safety in the city centre and on the Meadows.

One will be installed at the junction of Argyle Place and Melville Drive in Marchmont, while the other will be a staggered crossing installed on North Bridge.

The work will cost 170,000 and was advertised to contractors this week.

Kerbs will be replaced and lights installed at the sites, while new gullies and road markings will also be placed.

The work will also involve fitting bollards and resurfacing the flagstones at both sites.

The project involves improving the existing layout of the junction to benefit pedestrians and cyclists, and the installation of guardrails. It will run from September to November.
