Crooked solicitor sets up new firm

A CROOKED New Town solicitor, who is suing his mother and sister over his multi- million-pound property empire, has set up another company.

Michael Karus established Edina Properties Ltd, with himself as company director, in November last year, just days after it was revealed he was suing his 83-year-old mother, Mary Karus, for £350,000.

The 50-year-old had earlier launched an £11 million claim against his sister, Anielka McElvogue, 52, through his other firm, Playfair Investments Ltd, which was set up last June. Karus is bidding to recover assets he transferred into her name after being banned from acting as a company director.

The firms were set up following Karus’ release from prison after he was jailed for three-and-a-half years for embezzling £413,052 while acting as executor of the estate of Edith Hampton, 89, who died in 2003.
