Woman, 28, arrested over 'suspicious' death in Coatbridge as police carry out inquiries

A 28-year-old woman has been arrested in connection with a "suspicious" death in Coatbridge this morning.

Police were called to a property in the town's Renfrew Place at about 5:25am on Saturday following a report of a disturbance.

Officers have now launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding what they have described as a "suspicious" death.

Detective Inspector Pauline Thomson, of the Major Investigation Team, said: "Police were called to Renfrew Place, Coatbridge, around 5.25am on Saturday, 25 July, 2020, following a report of a disturbance.

"Enquiries are ongoing into the circumstances surrounding the death of a woman at a property, which is currently being treated as suspicious, and a 28-year-old woman has been arrested in connection with this.

"Anyone who has information which could be relevant is urged to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident 0942 of 25 July, or report this anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
