'Wolverine' vehicle used to help two stranded walkers in Pentland Hills due to deep snowdrifts
The ‘Wolverine’ vehicle was called to negotiate the snowy terrain after the rescue team was called by Police Scotland to the North Pentland Hills on Saturday evening.
At around 8.30pm, the rescue team were called and although no snow was present in the Colinton/Bonaly areas of the city, there were deep snowdrifts as the crew attempted to access Bonaly Reservoir.

Hide AdThe team couldn’t progress in their Landrover, so called the Scottish Ambulance Service for assistance.
Writing on Facebook, Tweed Valley Mountain Rescue Team said: “We were requested by Police Scotland to assist with the evacuation of two walkers in the North Pentland hills near Edinburgh.
“Although no snow was present in the Colinton/Bonaly areas of the city, it quickly became apparent that our vehicle couldn't progress through the deep snowdrifts as we tried to access to Bonaly Reservoir - luckily the
Scottish Ambulance Service 'Wolverine' vehicle was able to get further than our Landrover which greatly assisted the rescue effort.”
Weather warnings remain in place for Edinburgh on Sunday and Monday with experts at the Met Office predicted snow to fall in the region over the coming days.
The mountain team added: “At the moment virtually all the hills in our patch remain covered in snow with some very deep drifts - this makes walking very slow and difficult. Please plan your journey and make sure what you are attempting is achievable.”
