Two parked cars in Scottish town set on fire in deliberate act, police confirm

Two vehicles were found set alight in a Scottish town which officers are treating as a criminal act.

A Mistubishi car and a Hyundai car were both found on fire outside a house on Glasgow Road, Kilsyth, at about 1am on Sunday.

The fire was extinguished by Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and detectives are treating the incident as wilful.

Detective Constable Susan Fairlie of Coatbridge Police Office said: “Luckily no one was injured as a result of this crime, however we are carrying out enquiries in the area and gathering CCTV footage to gain more information on who is responsible for setting this fire.

“I would ask anyone who was in the area of Glasgow Road in Kilsyth at this time, who witnessed anything suspicious, or who has any information that might assist our investigation to contact Coatbridge Police Office through 101 quoting reference number 0306 of 1 November."
