Teenager dies after being found seriously injured in Scottish town car park

The boy’s death is being treated as unexplained.

A 17-year-old boy has died following an incident in a car park in a Scottish town.

Officers were called to Motherwell’s Civic Centre after reports of a teenager found seriously injured in the car park.

The area was cordoned off at about 9.30am after the boy was found, but he died at the scene a short time after.

A police spokesperson said: "We can confirm a 17-year-old man was found seriously injured in a car park near Motherwell Civic Centre shortly after 9.30am on Sunday, 12 July.

"He was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later. His next of kin are aware.

"His death is being treated as unexplained. A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal in due course."
