Officers in Caithness are appealing for information after the thefts from a grave at Thurso Cemetery.

It is thought that the thefts took place on two separate occasions from the same grave in the Mount Vernon area of the town sometime between Monday, September 4 and Monday, October 23.

The thefts involved items left in memory of the deceased being removed from the grave.

Constable Stephen Mezals said: “The items which have been stolen are of sentimental value to the family involved and their theft has caused significant distress.

“Anybody with information relating to these incidents should contact police in Thurso by calling 101, quoting reference NJ5979/17.

“ Information can also be left anonymously by calling Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
