Police appeal after body found near city centre hotel

A MAN’S body has been found in an underground car park near a hotel in the centre of Edinburgh.

It is believed he was in his thirties and was found yesterday morning by a hotel worker at Travelodge, in St Mary’s Street, who then called police. A post-mortem examination was due to be carried out today.

A Lothian and Borders Police spokesman said: “Officers are currently at an early stage in their inquiries, and the man’s death is being treated as unexplained.”

A spokeswoman for Travelodge said: “We can confirm that the man was not one of our customers. It is a live investigation so we cannot comment further.

“But we are helping police with their investigation.”
