Man arrested after forklift used to steal £50,000 of hot tubs in East Lothian

A man has been arrested after a forklift was used to steal £50,000 worth of hot tubs from a Lothians industrial estate.

The man, 31, has been charged, and the move comes after an incident on Friday evening.

The robbery occurred late on Friday at Advanced Hot Tubs & Swim Spas Ltd at Macmerry Industrial Estate, in Macmerry, near Tranent.

It is understood that around 10 hot tubs were stolen in the raid, worth around £5000 each, using a forklift which had been taken from a neighbouring yard.

Police have confirmed that a man has now been arrested in connection with the incident.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “A 31 year old man has been arrested and charged in connection with the alleged theft of hot tubs from a business premises in Macmerry, East Lothian, on Friday, December 11.

“He is due to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Monday, December 14.”
