Man and woman arrested after six-hour Inverness stand-off

A MAN and a woman have been arrested following a six-hour stand-off with police in Inverness.

Riot police were called to the incident in Bruce Gardens on Monday afternoon.

The woman, 35, is expected to appear in court on Tuesday and the man, 31, will do so on Wednesday. Five people were initially taken into custody.

Roads in the area were closed for approximately six hours until the disturbance was resolved.

It is understood riot police attended along with personnel from the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and the Scottish Ambulance Service.

Police Scotland said inquiries are ongoing and they have thanked the public for their patience and support during the incident.
