MacRoberts books rise in fee income and staff

Legal firm MacRoberts has posted double-digit increases in turnover, profits and headcount following a successful year in competitive tendering and new ventures.

Drafts accounts for the year to the end of April show a 10 per cent rise in turnover to £19.8 million, with profits up 12 per cent at £6.9m. The firm also boosted staff numbers by 12 per cent across its offices in Edinburgh, Glasgow and Dundee.

Led by managing partner John Macmillan, the firm also established Scotland’s first-ever corporate defence team headed up John McGovern. It specialises in the defence of high-profile corporate criminal prosecutions raised by the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service.
