Wheelchair racer Sammi Kinghorn, the firm’s athlete ambassador, has been selected for the Team GB Paralympic squad and will compete in 100-metre, 400m and 800m events next month. She said: “I’m aiming to make the finals of my events in Rio and just see what happens from there.”

Harper Macleod chairman Lorne Crerar said: “I know she’ll do fantastically well and it will be the first of many Games in her career.”

In fact, Crerar himself has just completed his role as part of the disciplinary team for the Olympic Rugby Sevens tournament, with Team GB winning silver. The event featured at the Olympics for the first time since the 15-a-side game was included in 1924.

Crerar, whose 20-year career in rugby discipline includes officiating at four Rugby World Cups, said: “It feels pretty special to be part of the Olympic family.”
