Hibs fans cleared of abusing disabled man

A DISABLED man has been reported to the Procurator Fiscal for wasting police time after claiming he was abused on a train by Hibs fans.

The British Transport Police made an appeal last month after the 51-year-old man claimed he was verbally abused between Carntyne and Glasgow on Saturday, February 27.

Hibs fans were travelling to an away game in Dumbarton at the time.

A British Transport Police statement read: “With reference to a previous release regarding a disabled man being verbally abused on a train travelling between Carntyne and Glasgow on Saturday, February 27, a 51-year-old man is now the subject of a report to the Procurator Fiscal for allegedly wasting police time.

“The public and media are thanked for their assistance in this matter.”
