Fourth arrest after vandalism rampage at Dunfermline's Pittencrief Park

Police have made a fourth arrest after a series of vandalism attacks and wilful fire-raising incidents at a Fife beauty spot

A series of incidents happened at Pittencrief Park.

A number of bins and benches were set alight at Pittencrief Park in Dunfermline on Wednesday, evening, while several cars parked on Chalmers Street were also damaged.

Police were called around 7pm to a report of bins on fire within the park.

Emergency services attended and the bins, as well as a number of wooden memorial benches, were found to be extensively damaged.

Officers made an appeal to the public in order to move the investigation forward.

Three arrests were initially made, with police confirming that youths aged 14, 15, and 13 were arrested. the 15-year-old has now also been charged in relation to damage to a car and the theft of a bin.

Officers have now confirmed that a fourth male, aged 15, has also been charged.

Police have also thanked the public for their help during the investigation.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Following extensive enquiry it has become clear that the group involved in the fire to the memorial benches at Pittencrieff park are responsible for theft of two council bins, later set on fire and vandalism to parked cars on Chalmers street.

“A fourth male aged 15 has now been charged in connection with the fire damage to the memorial benches.

"While one of the original males, aged 15 has now been charged with a vandalism to a car wing mirror and theft of a bin which was set on fire during this incident.”
