Falkirk knife man stabbed victim then called an ambulance

A man lay covered in blood and clinging to life as the thug who stabbed him called the emergency services for assistance and then his lawyer.

Aron Baillie (27) attacked the man at his flat in Millbank Terrace, Maddiston, on April 1 and, after calling an ambulance, told paramedics: “He’s upstairs. I did it. I want my lawyer – I called him already.”

The victim was discovered in the living room “unresponsive” and “covered in blood”.

Appearing at the High Court in Glasgow yesterday, Baillie pled guilty to assaulting the man to his severe injury, permanent disfigurement and impairment and to the danger of his life.

Jailing Baillie for four years and eight months, judge Lord Burns said: “This attack involved very serious injuries to this man. You struck him repeatedly with a knife which endangered his life.

“The attack has had very serious consequences for him.”

No reason was given for the attack, but the court heard there appeared to have been a disagreement between the men.

Prosecutor Allan Nicol said: “His injuries were described as life threatening due to the blood loss.”

The court heard Mr Craft is scarred for life and also has “restricted” movement in one hand.

Mr Nicol added the victim has no memory of the stabbing.

The court was told Baillie, who has a hazy memory of the incident, was remorseful.
