The 18-year-old boy sustained critical injuries in the unprovoked attack outside a property in Edinburgh’s Niddrie House Park at around 4am today (Saturday).

The victim, who had been walking with another man when they were assaulted, was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary where he is in a serious condition.

Police Scotland Detective Inspector Roddy Hardy said: “There will be a visible police presence over the course of this weekend as we seek information from local residents and to provide a reassuring presence.

“I urge anyone who witnessed suspicious activity in the area of Niddrie House Park in the early hours of Saturday June 18 to come forward.

“Similarly those with information that can help with our ongoing investigation are asked to contact police immediately on 101.

“Alternatively, information can be passed anonymously through the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
