Edinburgh police hunt two men who robbed boy, 15, of his bike at knifepoint in Portobello

Police are hunting two men who robbed a 15-year-old boy of his bicycle at knifepoint.

The boy was with his friend when the pair - one wearing a balaclava and the other a buff over his mouth and nose - approached them in Mount Lodge Place, Portobello at about 7pm on Sunday, June 14th.

Police said one of the suspects threatened the boy with a knife before stealing his silver and red Carrera mountain bike.

The two suspects then left the scene on bikes towards Portobello High Street.

One of the men is described as being his late teens, 6ft 1ins in height with straight black hair and a fringe, tanned complexion and black bushy eyebrows. He was wearing a black buff covering his lower face and nose.

The second man is described as white, also in his late teens, of skinny build and was wearing a black balaclava showing eyes only, and black puffer style jacket and black joggers.

Detective Constable Christina Yeoman, of Edinburgh CID, said: "This was an appalling and traumatic experience for the victim and his friend and on this occasion no-one was seriously injured.

"Officers are carrying out extensive enquires in the area and would like to hear from anyone who may have witnessed this incident take place or any information regarding the whereabouts of the bike."
