Drunk folk fan stumbled around motorway

A FOLK music fan who walked down the middle of a misty motorway in the dead of night after leaving a festival forced motorists to swerve to avoid him.

Sean Hamilton claimed he was trying to hitch a lift as he stood on the carriageway of the M90 after staggering out of the folk festival venue.

Hamilton, 23, of Forgandenny, near Perth, was described in court as “every driver’s worst nightmare” and told he had only narrowly avoided being sent to jail by a sheriff yesterday.

Perth Sheriff Court was told that Hamilton forced motorists to swerve out of his way after staggering on to the main Perth to Edinburgh motorway and waving his hands around in the air.

He admitted acting in a culpable and reckless manner on 10 April.

He was ordered to carry out 180 hours unpaid work.
