Citadel Court: Police cordon off building after body find in Leith

A high-rise building in Leith has been cordoned-off by police following the discovery of a man’s body.

Officers were called to the rear of multi-storey Citadel Court flats in Couper Street shortly after 7am following the grim find close to the back entrance.

A forensic tent has been erected at the scene to preserve any evidence while experts examine the area.

It is understood that a smashed mobile telephone was found near the man’s body and residents in the 13 storey building are assisting with door-to-door enquiries.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 7.10am officers were called to reports of a man found injured in Couper Street in Edinburgh. Emergency services attended but the 52-year-old man was pronounced dead. Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full set of circumstances surrounding the incident."
