Bellshill Athletic FC has paid tribute to the support of its fans as it launched a GoFundMe page to help pay for repairs to its clubhouse.
A post on the club’s official Twitter account said the team “have been blown away by the kindness today on such a sad day for the club.”
Three fire engines were called to the ground in Carnoustie Place at 6:30 this morning to put out a blaze at the clubhouse.
Video from the scene shows the team’s changing rooms still alight an hour after fire crews arrived.
The blaze has now been put out, but the roof of the facility appears to have been heavily damaged.
In a series of Tweets showing the damage, Bellshill Athletic said: “Gutted is an understatement.”
Police Scotland, whose officers attended the scene alongside firefighters, said its enquiries into the fire were still ongoing.
