Attempted robbery: Man in 20s threatens Morrisons petrol station staff in Borders

Detectives are appealing for information following an attempted robbery where a young man threatened a staff member and demanded money in what was described as a ‘terrifying experience’ at the Morrisons petrol station in Hawick.

No one was injured in the incident on Friday night which happened at around 8.30pm and the man left empty handed.

The man in question is described as in his mid-20s to 30s, 5ft 10 inches tall, wearing a black jacket with a hood and a black snood covering his face, black jeans and black trainers with white soles.

Detective Constable Andrew Loughlin from Galashiels Police said: “Thankfully nobody was injured during this incident, however it was still terrifying experience for the staff member involved.”

Police are asking anyone who saw a man which suits the description to come forward and have asked those in the surrounding area with private CCTV and motorists with dash-cams to get in touch in case they captured any footage.
