Police are appealing for information after a woman was assaulted and robbed in Ashgrove Road.

Police in Aberdeen are appealing for information after a woman was assaulted and robbed while out walking.

On Thursday morning, a 27-year-old woman was walking in Ashgrove Road, when a woman came up from behind, threatened her and stole her handbag.

The incident happened around 9 am and, though the woman did not require any medical attention, she was left very distressed by the incident.

The suspect is described as a white woman, around five foot tall with a gaunt appearance and a slim build.

She has auburn coloured hair which was tied in a plait and was wearing a face mask and grey tracksuit trousers.

The police are checking the CCTV footage in the area and are asking for anyone with any additional information to come forward.

Detective Barry Wallace said: “A young woman has been extremely upset by this incident. I am appealing to members of the public who were in the area around the time of the incident, did you see it, did you see the suspect?

“If you have any information, please contact us. I would also appeal to motorists to check their dash cams as it could have captured images which could assist our investigation.”

Anybody who can help with the investigation is urged to call 101 quoting incident number 0831 of Thursday, August 6.
