23-year-old charged after car caught speeding at at more than 140mph

The black Volkswagen Golf was clocked travelling and more than double the A9 speed limit.

A man has been charged after allegedly being clocked speeding at more than 140mph in the Highlands.

Police Scotland detected a black VW Golf at 143mph on the A9 at Arpafeelie, near Tore, on the Black Isle, at about 10.30pm on Friday.

That speed is more than double the limit on the dual carriageway section of the road at Arpafeelie.

A 23-year-old man has been charged in connection with dangerous driving.

Sergeant Davie Miller, from the Highland and Islands Road Policing Team, said: “Driving at inappropriate speeds can have catastrophic consequences and I would urge anyone who was in the area at the time and may have seen the black VW Golf to get in touch with us.”
