Crime novels most popular with library users

SCOTLAND’S favourite library books have been revealed – and show that when it comes to a good read nothing is more popular than crime, with all of the top ten belonging to the genre.

US thriller writer James Patterson was also revealed as the most borrowed author across the UK for the sixth year running.

Data collected by Public Lending Right (PLR) shows exactly which books and authors proved most popular between July 2011 and June 2012.

The top ten in Scotland are Miracle Cure by Harlan Coben; The Leopard by Jo Nesbø; The Confession by John Grisham; Worth Dying For by Lee Child; The Reversal by Michael Connelly; Postcard Killers by James Patterson & Liza Marklund; Never Look Away by Linwood Barclay; Broken by Karin Slaughter; Blind Fury by Lynda La Plante and Don’t Blink and James Patterson & Howard Roughan.
