Crime gang pair jailed for stealing luxury clothes

TWO members of an organised crime gang who repeatedly targeted one of Scotland's most exclusive clothing stores have been jailed for ten months each.

John Todd and David Cameron both admitted travelling to the upmarket House of Bruar retail centre in Blair Atholl, Perthshire, to steal expensive luxury clothing.

Todd, of Woodhill Road, Bishopbriggs, admitted stealing a coat on 11 September, 2009, while Cameron, 36, of Larchgrove Road, Glasgow, admitted stealing two leather jackets on 6 October, 2009.

Fiscal depute Robbie Brown told Perth Sheriff Court that CCTV footage showed Todd, along with a third man, acting suspiciously and taking a 400 coat into a changing cubicle. The coat hanger it was on was then returned to the rack minus the designer coat.

"Cameron was seen on the premises by staff who were suspicious about the contents of a bag he had," Mr Brown said. "It was clear he became aware of their suspicions and put the bag down and made off."

He told the court the bag was found to contain two designer leather jackets which were on sale for a combined price of 1,600.

Solicitor Kevin McCarron, on behalf of Todd, said: "He should know better at his age."
