Crime author’s mystery gifts

Ian Rankin has received a series of drawings by the mystery sculptor who caused a stir with a series of works left around the Capital.

The elaborate drawings, etched onto old parchment, were sent to the author to mark his 51st birthday, and included a pictorial interpretation of each of his 17 inspector Rebus novels.

Among the images was a series of Christian crosses representing Knots and Crosses, while another was made up of musical notations referencing Exit Music.

Rankin tweeted; “Remember Edinburgh’s mystery sculptor? She has sent me 17 small paintings for my birthday.”
