Crash victim’s parents pay tribute to ‘caring’ son

THE parents of a young man who died after his car crashed into a tree paid tribute today to their “very caring” son.

Jamie McLaughlin, 21, was travelling on the B8046 between Ecclesmachan and Threemiletown, near Linlithgow, West Lothian, when his red Peugeot 206 struck the kerb before leaving the road and hitting a tree.

Mr McLaughlin, from Craigshill, Livingston, was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary after the crash on Saturday evening but later died of his injuries.

In a statement issued through Lothian and Borders Police, they said: “We would like to say a heartfelt thanks to the local people, firemen, police and paramedics who came to his aid in his hour of need.

“We would also like to say a huge thank you to the staff at the Royal Infirmary in Edinburgh – they tried so hard to save Jamie.

“Jamie was a son to be proud of, he was very caring, quick-witted and would do anything to help others. He has been taken from us far too early, but at 21 he had his own flat and had bought his car.

“Rest in peace Jamie, please give your little brother a hug when you meet in heaven.”
