Crash pilot ‘lost control’

A PLANE that crashed, killing a pilot and her brother, lost control before plunging into a Florida swamp, an investigation has revealed.

Student pilot Carly Beattie, 21, from Penicuik, Midlothian, was flying the aircraft, with her 24-year-old brother as the only passenger, when it crashed into woods near Blue Cypress Lake, 150 miles north of the Miami.

The National Transportation Safety Board has published its preliminary findings. Early reports suggested the rudder horn, which controls direction, would be a focus of the investigation.
