Cow 'tramples farmer to death'

AN INVESTIGATION has been launched after a farmer was allegedly attacked by a bull before being trampled to death by a cow.

John Ward, 67, was working with his daughter Katie, 21, to put identity tags on calves when he was attacked by a bull. She said he was thrown into the air by the bull before a cow, whose calf he was tagging, began stamping on him.

An ambulance was called to the farm in Ridgeway on the South Yorkshire-Derbyshire border on Wednesday afternoon, but Mr Ward died from his injuries.
