Court settles pend dispute

A DISPUTE between neighbours over a £677 bill for repairs to tenements in Leith has been settled at Edinburgh Sheriff Court.

Helen Tindale was taken to court by neighbour John Hunter amid claims she was liable to pay the share from a repair bill as the owner of a pend - or passageway - in Constitution Street.

Sheriff Nigel Morrison QC ruled that the pend did not count as part of the tenement, but as an access point to the rear courtyard.
