Countdown at aquarium

A CENSUS of all the creatures at Deep Sea World is to start this weekend.

Staff at the North Queensferry aquarium are inviting visitors to volunteer for the annual stock-take, to help spot and record the number of certain species including sharks, rays, clown fish, piranhas and poison dart frogs.

The experts at Deep Sea World will then carry out an official check, and the child who most accurately reports the population of the animals will win a series of special prizes.

Zoological manager Chris Smith said: “January has traditionally always been the time of year when we do an official check on our animal stock holding. We thought it would be a good idea to involve the visitors in the process and turn it into a fun activity that everyone can take part in.”
