Councillors back Cammo sell-off plan

Councillors have backed plans to sell off a listed former farmhouse that is on Scotland’s buildings at risk register.

Members of the council’s finance and resources committee agreed to the plan to sell the Cammo Home Farm Steading, on the Cammo Estate, to Cala Homes for £600,000.

The decision moves the C-listed structure, which dates back to 1908, a step closer to demolition. It is to be replaced by two new luxury homes.

Cala is expected to submit a planning application to demolish the Tudor-style building.

The deal is subject to planning consent being granted, which will require approval from Historic Scotland.

It was put on the at-risk register by the Scottish Civic Trust in 1999 and a number of previous proposals for the site have failed.

Cala bosses told council officials that the building is in such a dilapidated state that it “cannot be economically restored”.
