Council trade trust survey

A SCHEME aimed at helping residents find trustworthy traders to carry out work may be established in the Lothians.

East Lothian Council is seeking feedback from residents and businesses over the possibility of setting up a trusted trader scheme in the county.

A trusted trader scheme has been running in Dundee for more than five years, with businesses taking part undergoing an independent health check on their finances and having their references examined.

The businesses must also have a code of practice and a complaints process in order to be signed up.

In return, the firms are able to use the trusted trader logo on their marketing materials and benefit from referrals made by the scheme.

Submissions must be made by December 22.
