Council throws cold water on bad behaviour hotspot

A HOTSPOT for antisocial behaviour in Musselburgh is being targeted under new plans by the local authority to curb the problem.

Complaints about youth behaviour around the Brunton Hall has prompted a multi-agency approach to stamp out the issue, including input from East Lothian Council and the police.

A Problem Solving Partnership (PSP) meeting agreed a response to deal with the dilemma with a plan of action suggesting an increase in patrols by police officers, community wardens and beat officers, while the area could undergo floodlighting on Friday and Saturday evenings.

Councillor Stuart Currie, community safety leader, said: “It is disappointing to hear that we’re once again experiencing antisocial behaviour in this area, but I hope that local residents will be assured that we are taking swift action.

“It is hoped that the implementation of the agreed plan will lead to a reduction in the distress being caused.”
